Known as a humble, kid-friendly pizzeria since 1956, Frank and Helen’s Pizzeria is an Olive Link destination.
“This stretch of Olive is a gem,” says Co-owner Becca Horvath. “We love the diversity here. All the businesses in the Olive Link international district mesh into a unique culture.”
Located at 8111 Olive in the International District, Frank and Helen’s was named as “One of the 33 best pizza joints in the United States” by Thrillist, a digital lifestyle brand. It was the only St. Louis-area Pizzeria to get a call-out.
Adding to its list of accolades, The Riverfront Times (RFT) calls Frank and Helen’s “a St. Louis institution.”
According to the RFT: “The University City eatery has been serving diners its signature thin crust pizza, “charcoal steaks” (you have to love that sign out front) and Italian specialties since opening in 1956. On any given night the dining room is filled with multiple generations of guests — some settling into tables adorned with a “reserved” placard like in the old days.”
In addition, the RFT named Frank and Helen’s signature dish “broasted chicken” to the publication’s “Gut Check’s 100 Favorite St. Louis Dishes.”
Thrillist vaunts the locale as “the opposite of fancy,” calling it “the perfect St. Louis pizza place, and the best place in the city to get a traditional St. Louis-style pie.”
